Making everyday things better
The beautiful “City of Roses”, Portland, Oregon is the third largest city in the Pacific Northwest. It’s known as one of the most eco-friendly cities in the world, and its MAX light rail transit system provides easy, economical travel for conference attendees.
Portland has a wonderful climate, and is located near the scenic Mount Hood and the Cascade Mountain Range. The city was called a “dining destination” by the New York Times in 2007, due to its growing restaurant scene. Portland is home to many microbreweries, and the Willamette Valley, nearby, is known for producing world-class wines.
What you see is what you get in Portland price-wise: there’s no sales tax in Oregon. In 2008 Travel + Leisure Portland was chosen as one of 25 “America’s Favorite Cities". Portland ranked #1 for the categories of cleanliness, environmental awareness, public parks and access to the outdoors, public transportation and pedestrian friendliness, and safety. On January 1, 2009, all Oregon workplaces became smoke-free, including restaurants and bars, so smoking indoors or within 10 feet of doors and windows is prohibited.
