Dining in Portland

Portland’s restaurant scene has been quietly exploding in the past few years and now emerged from hidden foodie gem to a nationally acclaimed dining destination. Portland was recognized by the Food Network Awards as “America’s Best Eating Destination” for 2007. The New York Times also spotlighted Portland for its restaurant scene .

Northwest cuisine emphasizes locally grown and often organic fresh ingredients. Specific specialties of the area include wild mushrooms, salmon, hazelnuts, marionberries and huckleberries, and sweet onions. Portland is home to more microbreweries than any other city in the country, which is reflected not only in the number of brewpubs but even the diverse selection at any bar. And as highlighted in the movie Sideways, the region is also home to a great locally produced wine scene.

Portland Food and Drink provides reviews, forums and menus.
