The Warfighter Training Research Division (AFRL/HEA) in Mesa, Arizona, is the United States Air Force's premier organization for research and development in warfighter training techniques and technologies. The AFRL/HEA's robust training R & D program is aimed at producing a research foundation upon which sound training system development principles can be based. Modeling and simulation are a major part of the laboratory's tool kit, but it is the AFRL/HEA's skilled scientists, engineers, computer scientists, and pilots who merge operational training systems with R&D efforts. The AFRL/HEA had three major areas of focus:
- Warfighter training effectiveness behavioral research
- Distributed mission training technology engineering development
- Night vision device aircrew training R&D
The AFRL/HEA does testing with pilots to improve the products. On this tour, participants will get to see how they use the simulator lab as part of their overall program.
