Remote usability testing, where developers and users are in separate locations,
can be performed with real-time
collaborative and conferencing software tools. These capabilities are allowing
usability testing to reach wider
target audiences without travel by the evaluators or the usability facilitator.
This non-technical SIG will focus on sharing lessons learned from remote
usability testing. The session will include discussion of
the benefits and challenges of remote testing, the planning and implementation
of the test, impact on
evaluators, use of video cameras, and comparison of results to lab-based
usability tests.
Experienced remote testers are welcome to share their experiences as well as
those who are interested in learning
more about the capability.
