Student Volunteers The UPA welcomes students to participate in the conference. As in past years, the Conference Committee will depend on student volunteers to help out during the conference. Students can attend the conference for just $110 in exchange for 8 hours of service during the conference. In addition to the conference proceedings, the $110 fee entitles student volunteers to the reception on Wednesday (with lots of food), breakfast & lunch on Thursday & Friday, and the banquet with Brenda Laurel (speaker) at Jokake Inn on Camel Back Mountain on Thursday evening. In addition, for those who choose to do so, student volunteers can attend one tutorial free, provided they are willing to assist the presenters during set-up and during the tutorial. This will be in addition to the 8 hours of service referred to above. Also, the tutorial attendance is restricted to one student volunteer per tutorial on a "first-come, first-served" basis. The 8 hours of service will consist of: preparing conference materials, working at the registration desk, helping the presenters during sessions, etc. All of these jobs are a great way for students to meet professionals in the usability field.
