UPA encourages student attendance
at our annual conference by offering a discounted registration fee for
qualified participants in exchange for conference service.
Who qualifies to be
a volunteer?
- Full-time college or graduate students, including Spring '04 graduates
- Part-time students enrolled in a degree or certificate program
- Under-employed individuals, and those attending the conference at
their own expense.
What are the benefits
of volunteering?
- Exposure to prospective employers and plenty of opportunity for
networking
- Free attendance at tutorials at which you are serving
- Registration rebate off the regular student fee (applied after service
is completed)
- Distinctive UPA "Student Volunteer" shirt to be worn while
on duty
What are the duties
and responsiblities?
- You must be available throughout the conference (June 7 - 11)
- You must perform at least 15 hours of service, staffing the information
booth, registration desk and asssisting session chairs and tutorial
intructors
- You must attend volunteer meetings
Does UPA support travel
and lodging?
Unfortunately, UPA cannot
provide travel or lodging subsidies to student volunteers. We encourage
you to share rooms at the conference hotel, and will help you find a
roommate, if needed.
How many student volunteer
slots are available?
There will be at least 14
Student Volunteers. Slots will be filled on a first-come, first-served
basis, with priority given to full-time students. Applications for student
volunteers will be accepted starting in the early spring.
