Gov.uk web sites get thumbs up for usability - The Register - 4 Feb
With UK local governments facing a 2005 deadline for e-enabling their
services, a lot of attention is being paid to their usability. Despite
the upbeat headline, half the sites missed the mark for acceptable scores
in this report.

Australian government entry point to get facelift - ZDNet Australia -
18 Feb
The headline doesn't sound promising, but this request for tender says,
"The vision for the redeveloped Web site is to provide a user experience
that is informative, colourful, visually interesting and intuitive. It
should present an image of the Australian Government as a leader and innovator
in electronic government whilst also adhering to best practice in usability
and accessibility". We'll check back in May, when the project is
scheduled to complete.

The Michigan chapter is teaming up with other local groups to sponsor
local events, including this conference. Day 1 is a tutorial on Usability

Rosenbaum, Laurie Kantner and Dave Mitropoulos-Rundus

- UK: The UK Chapter has published its 2004 salary survey. The report
is posted on the UK UPA web site.

- SWITZERLAND: The Swiss Chapter has relaunched their website (currently
in German only). Feedback from around the world is highly appreciated.
In April, the chapter will run a usability test on the site as a "learning-by-doing"

UPA will publish a new peer-reviewed Online International Journal of Usability

UN NOUVEAU JOURNAL DES ETUDES EN UTILISABILITE

Journal of Usability Studies ". Ce journal servira de pont entre

affaires. La premiere edition sera lancee au cours du troisieme quart
