The UPA is pleased to announce that Martha K. Sippel was elected a Fellow by The Society for Technical Communication (STC). Martha Sippel achieved this honor with the review and approval of the Board of Directors based on having attained eminence in the field of technical communication through achievements and contributions to the profession and Society.
Martha Sippel has developed and presented compelling and accurate technical material for more than 32 years. She received a BA in Geology from The Colorado College and a BA in Technical Communications from Metropolitan State College of Denver.
Martha consistently receives recognition for her contributions, from the Distinguished Chapter Service Award to several presidents' awards to international awards for her work on CH2M HILL's intranet. She led a team that won both the local and international STC Online Competition Distinguished Award for CH2M HILL's Benefit Election Resource Tool (BERT).
Under Martha's guidance as president, the Rocky Mountain chapter received a chapter achievement excellence award. She was also elected to Sigma Tau Chi, STC's honor society. Martha served as a member of the STC nominating committee and is a frequent conference speaker at international STC conferences.
One STC colleague states: "Her care for the success of her colleagues, her chapter, her Society, and her friends is never ending. Martha has also taken the leadership skills she has honed at STC and is now applying them in her community. As I watched her grow from chapter leader to Society leader to community leader, it is obvious that Martha's accomplishments and qualities distinguish her as an STC Fellow.
