Develop Chapter Start-up Graphical Map: This job aims at making the start-up procedure for chapters more accessible and usable by designing an interactive, graphical "map" showing the different steps of the process. (We're thinking about something along the lines of the UPA Poster, but to be presented on the website). The map will be on the first level of the Chapters section of the web, with links to additional information, as appropriate. The volunteer will be responsible for scoping the project, using existing chapter materials as a resource, developing the graphic design, and providing the content. (Note: most of the content is available in a step-by-step format, so the primary work on this project will be to do the graphic layout). Click here for a complete description: Start Up
Creating Chapter Marketing Materials: We need help in creating materials to help market local chapters to prospective members and other external audiences. The materials should explain the benefits of local membership, chapter activities, and its role within the UPA. The volunteer will be asked to produce PowerPoint presentations and speaker outlines to document this information. The volunteers will collect the information for these materials by interviewing existing chapters and should plan to review the materials with chapters after they are created to make sure they meet chapters' needs. Speaker's Pool Organizer: Traveling UPA members are often willing to give presentations or courses to chapters in the area they are visiting. However, we need a process established to connect traveling UPA members who are willing to present and local chapters. This job aims at getting your suggestions for developing a model for how current information about traveling members, their topics, schedules can be made available to chapters, and how the chapters can book the speakers. In short, this job is to describe the process model and estimate the work involved to implement the process (to be done later). Click here for a complete description: Speaker's Pool
Friends of Usability Program Manager: Friends of Usability is a new program of the UPA . It allows UPA members to purchase certificates that acknowledge the work of others in their companies who help promote usability. The goal of this program is to create greater awareness of usability efforts and to thank those who make our work possible. The manager of the Friends of Usability Program will monitor the ongoing program (with the assistance of the Director of Outreach) to ensure that it runs smoothly, will promote the program through articles, distribute materials at chapter meetings, and create presentations and displays for the conference, and monitor/edit the Friends of Usability pages on the UPA website. This includes ensuring that recipients are posted correctly. Click here for a complete description: Friends Manager Job Description
