Projector PSA is a company that develops a leading Professional Services Automation (PSA) suite that helps services firms efficiently manage their operations. Projector supports those firms by helping them track time and expenses, invoice their clients, schedule their resources, and manage their projects. Our software is delivered on a subscription/Software as a Service (SaaS) basis. As such, the product, which is a complex, internet-enabled, transactional application, is hosted on a multi-tenant architecture capable of supporting thousands of concurrent users.
We have been successful delivering a large and complex feature set with a very small team because the team is experienced, tightly-knit, and talented. We are looking to expand our development capabilities by hiring a key senior resource to own the design of our application’s user interface.
We are about to begin substantially redesigning our entire user interface and, in the process, will migrate our application from our existing technology to Microsoft Silverlight. As we do, we will push way beyond the typical text- and numbers-centric tag/value pair interfaces that many dry business applications possess. Instead, we will be implementing a much richer, more engaging interface that exploits drag and drop, animation, graphics, and configurability to their fullest in pursuit of satisfying the business users’ needs.
Our Director of User Experience will be responsible for leading the migration and redesign process both at a strategic and an execution level. He or she will define the overall UI vision and define the concepts, metaphors, and standards that will be used to shape the product, and develop a high-level roadmap to guide the implementation. This person will also design and execute the methodologies and processes that will be used throughout the interface design and development lifecycle. This will involve creating and validating the design, building prototypes and/or semi-functional proofs of concept, documenting and communicating the design to the development team, ensuring the final implementation provides a superb user experience, and incrementally enhancing the interface after initial implementation.
Because we are a small, entrepreneurial organization, our UX Designer will also have the opportunity to contribute in other areas as the interests of the employee and the needs of the organization dictate.
Our ideal candidate will be well versed in or capable of learning the following skills (in descending order of importance):
Projector PSA, Inc. (http://www.projectorpsa.com) is a leading supplier of on-demand professional services automation solutions based in Boston, MA. This enhances the opportunities for personal growth because it gives our employees experience in many aspects of the business. We are looking for people who are intelligent, detail-oriented, hard-working, interested in wearing many hats, and excited about working in a fast-paced and challenging environment. We offer competitive compensation, including stock options.
