Write for Us: Information for Authors
Do you have an idea for an article?
User Experience Magazine wants to hear from you.
User Experience Magazine is a quarterly professional magazine; it is not a technical or academic journal. There are no literature surveys or footnotes. Articles are practical in nature and are written in an active, personal voice. They are typically between 750 and 2000 words. Once an article is accepted, an editor will be assigned to work closely with the author to prepare their article for publication.
If you have an idea for an article, send us a proposal explaining your article idea. Proposal deadlines are listed for the year on this page, but we welcome article proposals at any time.
Please start by reading the magazine editorial guidelines.
In your proposal, please include:
- One- or two-paragraphs describing the article you want to write.
- A summary of the main points you will make–what readers will learn from your article.
- A brief explanation of your experience and expertise in your topic.
Articles can provide a new perspective on an aspect of UX, summarize current thinking on a topic, describe a method or UX technique, illustrate a point through a project or research example, or reflect on UX practice. Above all, they must be interesting and engaging, inviting readers to think about our work in a new way.
The editor and the editorial board will review your proposal and decide whether to accept it for publication. If your article idea is accepted, it will be assigned to an editor, who will work with you through the editorial and publication process.
We do not generally accept articles that have been published elsewhere. However, in some cases User Experience may publish excerpts from recent books of special significance to our members.
Thanks in advance for your contributions. We look forward to hearing from you!
User Experience 2014 issues
