The theme of UXPA’s UX Magazine for the second quarter of 2013 is UX and SciFi, edited by Special Guest Editor Aaron Marcus.
Proposals are now being accepted from the UX community.
Sci-Fi authors and cinema/media professionals are also being contacted to contribute to the issue.
Articles may reflect topical issues from one’s own career experiences, advice for film/media professionals, the storytelling techniques of scifi and how they can be used in UX design, emerging UX roles in film/media development, the future envisioned for UX. These topics are only suggestions.
The schedule is the following:
1 November 2012: Article proposals due. (Short summaries of the key points in your article)
7 January 2013: Final articles due
April 2013: Issue published
UX Magazine articles are typically between 750 and 2000 words (depending in part on the number and size of figures). They are practical in nature and are written in an active, personal voice. There are no literature surveys or footnotes. Also, authors work closely with a member of the Editorial Board to prepare their articles for publication.
More information about UX Magazine editorial guidelines is available at: http://www.usabilityprofessionals.org/upa_publications/user_experience/editorial.
Please submit informal proposals that let us understand the main points you want to make, not just the topics you will cover.
Send your proposals to the Managing and guest editors:

Aaron Marcus (aaron.marcus@amanda.com)
Thanks in advance for your contributions!

Dear UXPA-ers:
Glad UX 13.2 is posted here at UXPA announcements/Publications. We have a great issue underway, including interviews by two well-known sci-fi authors. Stay tuned. Look for the special issue, if not on newstands everywhere, at least in your Member mailbox during 2Q2013.
Sincerely, Aaron
