  • Post-Conference Tutorials

Tutorials (Monday and Friday)
Tutorials are formally prepared sessions at which instructors teach conference participants specific usability or design skills. Session sizes range from 5 to 100 participants.

Workshops (Wednesday)
UPA workshops provide an active arena for advancements in the field of usability. Workshops provide the opportunity for experienced practitioners to develop new ideas about topics of common interest.

Posters (Wednesday and Thursday)
Posters, on display throughout the conference, present late-breaking results and new ideas or concepts in an informal, visual and interactive manner.

Idea Markets (Wednesday and Thursday)
The Idea Market occurs in a single room with multiple "activators" who simultaneously promote interaction about "burning questions" in usability and user-centered design.

Presentations (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday)
Focus on a practitioner's ideas and experience with usability methods, skills, philosophy, design, business case studies, or other relevant topics.

Speakers (Opening, Closing and Invited)
The Invited Speakers track brings professionals from other disciplines to share their insights and experiences. These presentations will surprise us, challenge us, and make us think about ways our profession is connected to other fields. Invited speakers complement the more pragmatic offerings of the conference program, with sessions designed to stimulate new associations and relationships.

Student Design Jam (Wednesday)
The Student Design Jam is an opportunity for students to flex their design skills in this 3 hour session. Students will be assigned to teams and a mentor to create the vision for the new UPA Poster in a Design Jam. A panel of professions will judge the designs. The winning design will be produced for the UPA to distribute and additional prizes will be awarded. Any student attending the conference is eligible to participate.

Optional Opportunities (Wednesday)
Unparalleled networking and education are yours! Join your colleagues being transported into HCI technologies, professional venues, or fun and creative events through UPA-I's new sponsored offsite events. These activities provide opportunities for networking and learning that should spark your thinking and expand your enjoyment, opportunities available only in Las Vegas.
