About the 90 Minute Presentation

This year marks the first time of the UPA International Student Design Competition (iSDC) an event created to introduce the next generation of Usability Professionals to the field and to introduce UPA members to the bright minds and novel ideas of the international students’ communities. This year’s topic for iSDC was Sustainable Transportation. Students were able to interpret the problem broadly by following a User Centered Design process. They were encouraged to explore the needs of real users, situated in real environments, gather requirements, and iteratively create designs to address this important problem. Students submitted short papers describing their projects and processes. The papers were reviewed by usability professionals and best papers were invited to present their projects at the UPA. Round 2 the iSDC Poster Session will take place in Portland on Tuesday evening. Following the presentation of Project Posters to UPA iSDC Judges, top teams will be chosen to advance to the Final Round of the Competition. Round 3 Student Project Presentations will take place on Wednesday afternoon and is open to all conference attendees. We invite you to attend the iSDC sessions to meet these bright designers and your future colleagues and be inspired by their creativity and enthusiasm. The winners of the iSDC will be announced at the Closing Plenary on Thursday.
