The Business of Usability

A tutorial for user experience managers, directors, and team leaders.

This updated, two-part tutorial focuses on the development of the managerial and logistical skills necessary to run a successful User Experience Organization. The first half of the tutorial is titled “Building and Managing a Successful User Experience Team”, and focuses on the reasons for building a team, what type of team to build, promoting and communicating the team’s value, and selecting tools and techniques. The second half of the tutorial is titled “Logistics and Maintenance of a Successful User Experience Team: HR, IT, and Accounting”. This is a set of modules focusing on the day-to-day logistics of running a user experience team. Both parts of the tutorial will include case studies from invited members of the user experience industry, as well as interactive activities for attendees.
