Effects of Age and Think-Aloud Protocol on Eye-Tracking Data and Usability Measures

Empirical research for practitioners who use think-aloud protocols and eye-tracking analysis in usability testing

In this paper, we compare concurrent (CTA) and retrospective think aloud (RTA) in young, middle-age and older adults. We demonstrate that CTA leads to more eye fixations only for older adults, CTA leads to increased accuracy in young and middle-age adults, and RTA leads to increased efficiency in middle-age adults.
