Teach your software developers this Ideation-Design process to reduce your usability work downstream

When our CTO decided that “our developers are responsible for GUI design” I set out to help our developers succeed by stepping outside the usability silo. I assembled four borrowed ideas into a formal, co operative Ideation Design process that our software developers now enthusiastically use. The process is now proven, on two continents, by a dozen “design teams” made up of developers, QA, and tech-comm staff. This Ideation Design process changed our corporate culture by making usability and product design processes collaborative, it gives us usable products, and it drastically reduces our development time.
